Hi, woowgers!

Thanks a ton for your PR! The ideas you've brought up, especially the Unix-specific file handling and NVMe support, are really cool.

I've got some news though - I've actually rewritten the project in C over the weekend.
Yeah, I know, bit of a curveball!

Because of this, I can't merge your PR as is, but I'd hate to lose your improvements.
If you're up for it, would you be interested in adapting these for the C version?

Either way, I really appreciate you taking the time to contribute. It means a lot.
