Is there a way to disable or hide the newChat button?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you can do this with the custom CSS feature.

Just put this in your custom CSS:

#new-chat-button {
  display: none;
}

With custom CSS just make sure you force your browser cache to refresh whenever you change it, so just Ctrl+Shift+R. Hopefully this will work for you!
